This panel seeks to bring this debate out into the open, to discuss how the rules of fandom have changed and what creators and fans can do to make the fan/creator interaction positive and enriching.

Hollywood Science Fiction Museum and Horror Museum
Founder Huston Huddleston has compiled some of the greatest names in sci-fi and horror to create the 2016 traveling exhibit, and 2018 permanent location for the Hollywood Science Fiction Museum and Hollywood Horror Museum. What began as restoring the Star Trek Enterprise Bridge set has expanded into what will be the world's largest nonprofit educational museums for both genres. Board members include Ronald D. WonderCon will once again host the Comic Creator Connection, an event that puts writers and artists together to see whether they can find their creative counterparts. Here's how it works: in two 2-hour sessions—on Friday, March 25, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Sunday, March 27, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM—writers and artists can sit down and meet each other in a neutral environment. In 5-minute sessions, you can talk one-on-one with individual prospective collaborators about their ideas and skills. At the end of each 5-minute period, you will get up and move on to the next person. If you're interested in furthering the conversation, you place your contact info (name and e-mail address) on a supplied card for that prospective partner. (Please note: This isn't an ordinary WonderCon program. Preliminary sign-ups for the CCC take place online before WonderCon. Since we are registering creators in advance they will get priority seating. Any seats that are still open once the event starts will be given on a first come first serve basis. Emily Decker (American Academy of Art) unmasks the myth of the superwoman by compiling material from canonical feminist art history to connect the feminist movement in comics today with the feminist movement of the 1960s and the 1970s. Ajani Brown (San Diego State University) examines the legacy of Jackie Ormes, the first African American woman cartoonist, in her socially and politically aware strips Patty Jo 'n' Ginger and Torchy Brown, as well as the impact of Ormes' work on other cartoonist such as Barbara Brandon-Croft (Where I'm Coming From) and Aaron McGruder (The Boondocks). Andrew Fogel (Purdue University) argues that superheroes' fantasy geographies developed as an imagined Jewish homeland, a response to Jewish existence outside statehood-defined modernity.
